Mary Did You Know? By Mark Lowry
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy will one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your Baby Boy has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you.
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy will calm the storm with His hand?
Did you know that your Baby Boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little Baby you kissed the face of God?
The blind will see. The deaf will hear. The dead will live again.
The lame will leap. The dumb will speak. The praises of The Lamb.
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your Baby Boy is heaven’s perfect Lamb?
The sleeping Child you’re holding is the Great, I Am.
This time of year always bring reflection. As a believer, I find myself reflecting on the true meaning of the season, which is the celebration and remembrance of Christ’s birth. This song is such a great reminder of that. My kids have been walking around the house singing this song almost every day. I love it! Catchy little tune, but packed with a powerful picture of God’s perfect incarnation through the earthly birth of his Son, Jesus Christ. The Jesus who grew in Mary’s womb would one day become the Saviour of our world. What an awesome privilege and responsibility for Mary!
Sometimes amid the stress of the holidays, the baking, the decorating, the gatherings, the hustle and bustle, the buying, and the good intentions, I lose complete focus on the purpose of our celebration. With fibromyalgia and cfs, it’s easy to focus on the tasks that I WANT to accomplish, but can’t because pain and fatigue get in the way. So, instead of enjoying what I can, I focus on what I cannot. Traditional Christmas activities are wonderful things that make us fond of the season, but if tasks are not accomplished or if pain and fatigue have slowed us down, the truth still stands that Jesus is Lord.
Phillipians 2:7-11 But made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
My encouragement to you today is to focus on Christ. The holiday activiites are so fun and it is truly disappointing when we are unable to fully participate. I understand that, I really do, but knowing Jesus as the Saviour of this world is the greatest gift that we’ve been given. Let you heart sing and celebrate that today!
